Agents of the All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday began inspection of materials used by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the conduct of the April 11, 2015 governorship election in Rivers State.

This is as the APC said it was disappointed at the continued unguarded utterances by the national chairman of INEC, Professor Attahiru Jega, suggesting that the massive electoral fraud perpetrated during the last general election in Rivers State was not as huge as being reported.

The APC governorship candidate in the state, Dr. Dakuku Adol Peterside is challenging the decision of INEC to declare the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike, winner of the election, before the Rivers State Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Abuja.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the inspection of the election materials by APC agents, which include their solicitors and forensic experts, was sequel to an order by the State Election Petitions Tribunal, on June 11, 2015, where it granted the request of the APC and Peterside to inspect materials used for the governorship election in the state.

The order of the election tribunal, headed by Justice Muazu Pindiga, reads in part, “That leave is hereby granted the petitioners/applicants to bring and argue this application outside or before the pre-hearing session.

“The first respondent is hereby directed to allow the petitioners/applicants personally and or through their agents, including their solicitors and forensic experts to inspect, copy, photocopy and obtain certified true copies of all electoral materials related to, or connected with the conduct of the Rivers State governorship election.
