Westminster College, Lagos, says it has entered into partnership with the University of Plymouth in the United Kingdom to make it easier for its students who wish to study in England.

The proprietor of the school, Chief Johnson Barovbe, while hosting two representatives of the school on Thursday, said the school would take such students through a one-year foundation programme and the students who partake in it would only have to spend three years in the UK instead of four years. He added that fifty students had already been trained through the arrangement.

He said, “Once a student goes through the one-year programme in Westminster successfully, he or she will only do three years in the UK to get a first degree, instead of going overseas to spend four years. That is our agreement with them.

“Since 2005 when the programme started, 50 students have benefited from the arrangement and had studied in the UK. However, only students with at least five credits in their O’ level, including Maths and English, in either WAEC or NECO are eligible for the one-year programme.”

Barovbe added that the school had also made arrangements with some universities in Canada, United States and Hungary for students who want to study medicine.

One of the representatives, Mr. Stuart Rennie, said the partnership would also avail students the opportunity to work in the UK.
