Ezeoha Pat Eneh has described the emergence of Senator Ike Ekweremmadu as deputy Senate president as an act of God aimed at placing Ndigbo in their rightful position as joint stakeholders in the present political dispensation.
According to him, “with the outcome of the presidential elections and the control of the National Assembly by elected members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who are in majority in the two chambers of the
National Assembly, Ndigbo whose representatives were mostly of the opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), were greatly worried about their future position in the present government.
“But the timely emergence of Senator Ike Ekweremmadu as the deputy president of the Senate has wiped away tears and anguish from the faces of our peoples.”
Speaking to Daily Sun in Lagos recently, Ezeoha Eneh stated that the elevation of Ekweremmadu to the position of deputy president of the senate had repositioned Ndigbo in the mainstream of the nation’s leadership.
His words: “Today, Ndigbo can now say they are part of the key decision-making leadership at the National Assembly, and by extension in the present government.’
“The traditional ruler noted that since the creation of Nigeria, Ndigbo as joint partners in the Nigerian enterprise have made great contributions and sacrifices in the development of the nation.
“Since the inception of the nation, many sons and daughters of Ndigbo, along with their compatriots from other parts of the country have contributed significantly towards the development of Nigeria. Naturally, it is pertinent and mandatory that they be given a proper place in the leadership of the nation to foster national cohesion, peace and unity, irrespective of ethnicity, political and religious affiliations,” he said.
