The wife of Ogun State Governor, Mrs. Olufunso Amosun, has urged educators to keep up with the trend of educational technology in tackling the current challenges facing the sector in the country.

She said educators would need to adopt a technological approach in their mode of teaching if students were to benefit from the advantages that computer-based teachings offered.

Speaking at the seventh edition of Total School Support Seminar/Exhibition, themed: ‘Inspiring the Future’, organised by Edumark to host educators and relevant stakeholders, which held in Lagos on Thursday, Amosun stated that education could not be separated from technology, more so that it makes learning easier.

She said, “The quality of education a country gives its citizens determines to a large extent the magnitude of political stability and technological advancement of that country, thus, educators must ensure effective and efficient learning for children and in a conducive environment that would enhance learning. As such, computer-based training, online learning and local technology should be used to make learning enjoyable in our schools.”

While advising educators to take advantage of programmes like TOSSE, she said the quality of education a parent or guardian gave his or her child or ward determined to a large extent the magnitude of success and achievement of the child, hence, parents should put education first.

The organiser of the programme, Mrs. Yinka Ogunde, said the seminar was organised to provide a platform for educators to be able to upgrade their knowledge and skill, adding that teachers, school owners and students should pay attention to technology.

“We want to develop educators to help them do their best in keeping up with modern trends and learning styles, and that is why exhibitions like this are helpful because several technological initiatives would be showcased, and it is free,” she said.
